Got this in the comments from "marhalluhockey":
"I am in the process of organizing a club hockey team for Marshall. Seems like there is a good response for it but depends on some tuff issues. Bad part is, we all know the closest ice is in Charleston but I have talked to the rink manager and he is going to help with ice time. I did not know Marhsall used to have a club team, I wish it was still going and the Blizzard was still here. I would have loved to watch them, just to young and when I got here everything was gone. If anyone has old game footage or pictures of Marshall's team and even the Blizzard I would love to see them. Anyother information that may help me bring hockey back to Marshall let me know!!"

Lenny, I miss hockey in Huntington as well and I hope someday it will return. I used to go to every Blizzard game and played in the adult league at TSIA. I really miss the ice rink. Anyway, I think I may have the last Blizzard game on video. If so, I'll get it over to DVD for you. The know the games were filmed and broadcasted on WB network. I bet someone has those games archived. Keep up the good work, don't give up.

Ooooo... that would be bad-ass. If you could get that to me somehow that would be fantastic. Might be able to get that on YouTube.
I was wondering about the broadcast angle of things in Blizzardland--I hadn't delved into that corner of things, beyond the fact that both 'RVC and 'KEE-AM carried radio broadcasts at one point or another. I know TV games were kinda sporadic--a few here or there on cable--but hadn't seen much more (admittedly, I'd been spending a lot of time immersing myself in pre-war hockey shenanigans, when there was NO television).
Lenny, I found the one and only Blizzard game I filmed and transferred it to DVD (from Hi8). This was the 2nd to the last game played in Huntington. It was game 3 in the first round playoffs against Hampton Roads Admirals. I'll warn you, that was my first time trying to film a hockey game so it's far from pro. I am not going to put the whole game on YouTube due to the 10min length restriction (I would have to make about 10 movie files). However, I did put a short clip up where the Blizzard was down by 1 with 1 min remaining. Ref didn't call icing on Hampton Roads which resulted in empty net goal. Coach Ray Edwards gets tossed after arguing and throwing his gum at the ref. Here is the link:

You are more than welcome to a copy of the DVD. Just email me a mailing address to send it to.
Also, I ran into an old adult league and MU Club hockey player yesterday. He said some guys are meeting at Merritts Creek at 5:30pm Sunday evenings and car pulling to Charleston to play over there.
God Bless,
Mike
I wish the Blizzard's were still here too! I remember watching the games with my dad. It would be great to see hockey back in Huntington again. I would definatly be there to see some of the games!
Good luck with the club!

Does anyone know the whereabouts of former Blizzard's coach (1993-94) J-Bob Kelly? I am looking for a contact number or mailing address to offer him a personal appearance request. Contact me at mbalec@hotmail.com
